Position Overview

The Math and Science Academy is seeking a Part-Time Study Hall Monitor for the 2026–2027 school year. This position provides supervision, structure, and academic encouragement to students during before-school and after-school study hall periods.

  • Status: Non-Exempt | Part-Time (School Calendar-Based)

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and/or 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

  • Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 / hour (based on experience)

  • Reports To: High School Principal

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Supervision: Monitor students during study hall periods and before/after school hours; ensure students stay on task and manage time effectively.

  • Support & Guidance: Build positive rapport, assist students with class transitions, offer homework guidance, and model appropriate behavior at all times.

  • Environment & Safety: Redirect behavior and adjust seating or procedures as needed to maintain a safe, focused environment.

  • Mission & Values: Embody MSA’s core values, mission, and equity standards in all daily interactions and communications.

Qualifications

  • Required: Friendly, approachable demeanor with strong communication skills.

  • Preferred: Prior experience working with children or in a school setting.

  • Physical Demand: Ability to stand/walk throughout the shift and lift/move up to 10 lbs.

Staff Enrollment Preference Note

Per Minnesota Statute and school policy, staff members eligible for student enrollment preference for their child (including foster children) must be employed to work a minimum of 480 hours within the school calendar year.
