Social Issues Impacting Businesses
PRESENTERS: Gina Johnson, Youth Service Bureau; Dr. Aric Jensen, Fraser; Diane Cragoe, Family Means
About The Program
Join us for a panel discussion on the social issues currently affecting our community. Hear from experts in the field who are working with people impacted and learn how employee retention and productivity is directly related to the health and wellness of the employee and their family system.
Gina Johnson will kick off the panel discussion explaining the alarmingly popular nicotine use among youth as well as providing an overview of vaping products, their health risks and the usage among youth and adults. She will also discuss local policies that business can support to help prevent substance abuse.
Next, Dr. Aric Jensen will focus on trends in mental health that are specifically impacting job seeking and employed individuals and their families. He will share ideas for how employers can support employees facing mental health struggles including how to conduct sensitive conversations, provide awareness of mental health resources and offer proactive methods to foster enhanced mental well being in the workplace.
Diane Cragoe will close the discussion by providing information on FamilyMeans Employee Assistance Program; a contracted service by employers and offered as a benefit to employees. The program is designed to assist an employee managing personal and work-related challenges that affect overall well being and on-the-job performance.
Presenters: Gina Johnson, Chemical Health Prevention Specialist for Youth Service Bureau and partner with South Washington County School District. Gina previously worked in tobacco control for Goodhue County educating the public on secondhand smoke, electronic cigarettes and the harms of tobacco use.
