| Nov 7 Lunch & Learn - NEW PROGRAM! |
The Business Education Partnership is excited to launch a new event series to be held every other month beginning in November. It is aimed at providing members with opportunities to advance their business skills or learn about new and interesting topics. The Lunch & Learn workshops will feature a chamber member as the presenter. These interactive sessions will allow participants to augment their business acumen in a relaxed and welcoming setting. There is no charge for the sessions and attendees are welcome to bring their lunch. The first workshop is Friday, November 7, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Please register so that we know how many are attending.
Affordable HealthCare Act
Gain More Understanding before the November 15th Open Enrollment Deadline

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) has changed the current health care environment in the United States, directly impacting many small business owners in the Woodbury area and across the state. This seminar will discuss the requirement differences between small and large employers. And, it will review who is required to provide health insurance to their employees and what penalties are associated with not providing insurance. Pricing trends between Minnesota health care providers will also be discussed including alternative methods available for reducing an employer’s health Insurance obligations. In addition, attendees will learn about the law’s reporting requirements for 2015 and beyond. Specific topics include:
- Defining Large and Small employers
- FTE calculations
- Who has to provide Qualified Medical Insurance
- Pricing Trends between the carriers
- Fines for not providing Health Insurance
- Pediatric Dental requirements
- MNsure
- Individual policy considerations
- Reporting requirements for 2015 and beyond.
The class will be led by Principal Financial Group Financial Advisors Kevin Cunniff, Randy Rheault, Mike Schwartz and Charlie Prokop. The group has more than 50 years combined experience working with small business on their group benefits. The group currently advises over 175 companies in the area with their group benefit and health care related needs.
