South Washington County Schools: Supporting Our Students' Mental Health Needs Through Personalization
A new school year is about to begin! Attend this month's chamber luncheon and hear about District 833's plans for the 2017-2018 school year. Superintendent Keith Jacobus will discuss the district's strategic plan objective of personalization and how that has led to district-wide programs to provide support for the mental health needs of students. South Washington County Schools provides a range of school behavioral and mental health supports including school counselors, psychologists and social workers.
This presentation will include an overview of mental health areas of expertise for licensed support services including bullying, prohibition/prevention, chemical health, suicide prevention/intervention, crisis intervention, and early signs and symptoms of mental illness training. Jonathan Hunt, Park High School Assistant Principal, and Tara Dahlager, school social worker in the district, will join Superintendent Jacobus in discussing the work being done on these issues. Both Dahlager and Hunt have led mental health initiatives across South Washington County Schools.
In addition to the discussion on mental health, Superintendent Jacobus will give an update about District 833"s "Partners in Education" initiative as well as provide information on the upcoming fall referendum.
