Facing the Caregiver Dilemma And Its Impact on Employers,
Employees and the Workplace
Presenter: Sini Ross, Owner, BrightStar, St. Croix Valley
About the Program: Is your organization challenged with employees who need time off to care for their loved ones? The need for caregiving and its impact on employers is profound as our nation continues to experience a high aging population growth. What do employers need to know to accommodate their employees who are facing the challenge of caregiving during the work week? This is a critical issue for all size businesses and organizations. It impacts the daily operation, other employees and could affect the bottom-line. Attend this presentation to learn methods for dealing with these challenges.
You may have an employee caring for loved ones from a distance; perhaps you are juggling running a business while caring for someone terminally ill or are caring for parents needing Alzheimer/memory care. Specifically, this presentation will cover:
- What is the sandwich generation and how does it impact the workplace?
- How to have “the talk” with your employer or employee on the caregiving time factor.
- How do employers plan for Family Medical Leave of Absence (FLMA)?
About the Presenter: Sini Ross is the owner of BrightStar St. Croix Valley. She has owned and operated this franchise provider of in-home care services since 2010. “Crisis equals opportunity” is the mantra that Sini has developed for her life. Sini first became a self-employed business woman while living in Sweden during the early 1990's. She enjoys being an entrepreneur and several years after returning home from Sweden, she looked into franchise opportunities here. Because of a personal experience with an aging family member, Sini says BrightStar was the perfect fit for her. Since starting BrightStar, Sini has learned a lot about the needs of families in care situations. She says that what concerns her most is the lack of planning and attention being paid to the “Silver Tsunami; the age wave of the American population,” which is now significantly impacting families and employers across the country.
