New Law for Commercial Recycling
Presented by Stephanie Wang, City of Woodbury Commercial Development Technician
The 2014 Legislature passed a commercial recycling law that becomes mandatory on January 1, 2016. Most Twin Cities commercial operations will have to put up bins and signs for cans, bottles and plastic. Industries in the seven-county metropolitan area that use garbage bins of four cubic yards or larger will be required to recycle at least three items. The law also requires recycling at all sports facilities. This is the first major update of Minnesota’s solid waste law in 25 years.
Attend the luncheon and learn about:
- The details of the new law and compliance requirements for commercial properties
- Grants up to $500,000 for recycling implementation strategies available in 2015 in Washington and Ramsey Counties
- Free technical assistance available both from the City as well as from Minnesota WasteWise, a program of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce
